Are you enjoying all the signs of Christmas? The trees, the lights and sparkling decorations. The Christmas songs playing in the shops. The reminders of all the food that we need for Christmas Dinner. The gifts to buy and wrap. The cards to write, if like me you still enjoy giving and receiving cards. And off course Santa is everywhere!
Does all this make you feel joyful and grateful for your family and friends? Or are you stressed out at the amount you still have to do?
We are now in full Christmas mode and it is only a few more days before the children break up from school. We are very good at focusing on what we need to do before the big day but we don’t often think about how we would like to feel on Christmas Day.
Maya Angelou said that “people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
When we are in the chaos of Christmas preparation it is sometimes good to take a moment to think about how you would like to feel on Christmas day. And once you know how you would like to feel how can you create that for another. Whether that other is your family, your friends or a complete stranger giving gifts such as love or companionship through being rather than doing are the biggest gifts you can give this Christmas and gifts that will be remembered always.
